Paint Fill Tool: Speed up the Measuring Process

The Paint Fill Tool is a great way to reduce work during the measuring and take-off process.

Summary: After using the Cutout Tool from Edit mode the cutout areas can be measured and assigned to another group quickly without re-drawing the cutout areas.

Highlights: A large area can be measured quickly. Features within the large area can be cutout and isolated from the large area measurement. These isolated features can be measured and reassigned to other groups with a quick click.

  1. Measure a large general area
  2. Enter into the Edit mode by clicking the general measurement area (first click the Pointer to shut off drawing tools)
  3. When the Edit box appears, select the Cutout tool (third from the left)
  4. Using an area tool Cutout the features you have identified (mulch, sidewalk, concrete etc.)
  5. Click Stop at the bottom of the screen (the tool tip box)
  6. Click the Paint Fill tool on the Tool Strip
  7. Click the Group you want to use
  8. Click the Cutout area in the general measurement
